After completing the assigned technology classes my philosophy for technology use in the classroom will be based upon my ability to add more lessons that use technology in my outreach lessons. Using more advanced tools in the preparation of lessons and activities to be used while teaching in an Outreach format to visiting schools and organizations will help the classroom teachers STaR objectives of enhancing student performance and exposure. It will require that I am able to acquire Chromebooks or iPads to travel with me as the tool for accessing lessons that I have created. These technology based instructional lessons will use the Nearpod app, but it will help me to develop a solid program that is based in technology use.
Research studies have proven that for young learners to be able to perform in the global economy they will need to increase their technological skills. It is the responsibility of today's teacher to insure that students are given every opportunity to develop effective skills using many different types of technology and applications. My task as an outreach teacher is to support the classroom teachers technology plan by offering added opportunities for students to practice using technology outside of the regular classroom in informal learning venues.
The one thing that I have learned through this process is the value of keeping my learning up-to-date with the changing technology in order to accomplish this goal. To further this goal I enrolled in a program of study called SimpleK-12 where they offer a series of lessons to help you to learn to use Google applications and programs for teaching students. So far I have completed five modules and earned fifteen certificates of completion. I also joined several technology based websites such as Tech & Learning, ISTE, Kahoot Team, IBM Curriculum and Cognitive Systems Program for Educators and several other technology rich programs and groups to help with my learning and use of technology in classroom lessons. With the use of all of these added skills and tools I will be able to support any teacher that I visit.
